Citi’s Banking franchise operates across Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, and Commercial Banking.

The Banking Business Execution (BBE) team is responsible for driving integrated strategy, execution discipline, and cross‑business initiatives that enhance performance, efficiency, and scalability.

The Head of Business Execution for UK, Europe & MEA is a senior leadership role supporting the Investment Banking, Corporate Banking and Commercial Banking franchises.

The role is accountable for advancing strategic priorities across these clusters, ensuring disciplined execution, and maintaining a robust governance and control environment.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Franchise Execution
  • Drive the identification, prioritization, and implementation of strategic initiatives that support growth, client franchise development, productivity enhancement, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the regional Banking leadership team, providing insights and recommendations on strategic, operational, and organizational matters.
  • Represent Banking leadership in governance forums, executive committees, and cross‑functional working groups as required.
  • Lead the coordination and delivery of key regional business priorities, ensuring alignment across businesses, products, geographies, and functional partners.
  • Drive innovation and identify opportunities to leverage technology, data, and process simplification to improve business outcomes and scalability.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and execution excellence across the region.
  • Business Management & Performance
  • Oversee regional business management activities, including financial planning, resource allocation, headcount management, and business performance reporting.
  • Partner closely with Finance on budget planning, expense management, business outlooks, and productivity initiatives.
  • Coordinate management routines, operating cadences, business reviews, and executive reporting to support leadership decision‑making.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators and management information to assess franchise performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct analyses on business performance, market developments, competitive positioning, organizational effectiveness, and franchise priorities.
  • Support senior leadership communications, executive presentations, board materials, and internal messaging.
  • Execution, Governance & Operating Model
  • Establish and maintain a robust operating framework that supports effective governance, planning, prioritization, and execution across UK, Europe & MEA.
  • Drive consistency in business management practices, governance standards, and execution disciplines across the region.
  • Lead regional transformation initiatives, ensuring successful implementation of strategic, regulatory, and business‑driven programs.
  • Coordinate complex, cross‑functional programmes involving Banking businesses, Finance, Risk, Compliance, Human Resources, Operations, Technology, Legal, and other key stakeholders.
  • Promote best practices and continuous improvement to enhance efficiency, transparency, and scalability across the franchise.
  • Risk, Controls & Regulatory Management
  • Ensure a strong and effective control environment across the region, with appropriate governance, oversight, and accountability mechanisms.
  • Partner closely with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Audit, and Control functions to identify, assess, and mitigate risks.
  • Lead the proactive monitoring of the business environment, anticipating emerging regulatory, operational, conduct, and franchise risks.
  • Support regulatory reviews, examinations, and engagements with regulators across multiple jurisdictions as required.
  • Coordinate responses to internal audits and regulatory findings, ensuring timely remediation and sustainable control improvements.
  • Oversee implementation of key regulatory, governance, and control initiatives across the region.
  • Promote a strong culture of conduct, accountability, transparency, and ethical decision‑making.
  • Ensure the business operates in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and standards.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients, and assets through effective risk management and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Stakeholder Management & Leadership
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across Banking businesses, product partners, regional leadership, and functional teams.
  • Act as a central point of coordination across businesses and functions, helping align priorities and resolve competing demands.
  • Influence outcomes across a highly matrixed organization through collaboration, credibility, and effective leadership.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing regional Business Execution team.
  • Foster an inclusive, high‑performance culture focused on talent development, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Support organisational development, succession planning, and workforce strategy initiatives across the franchise.

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in banking, business management, strategy, business execution, consulting, risk management, or related leadership roles.
  • Extensive experience operating within large, complex, and highly regulated financial institutions.
  • Strong understanding of Banking businesses, including Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, and related products and services.
  • Proven track record of leading large‑scale strategic initiatives, transformations, and complex cross‑functional programmes.
  • Significant experience in governance, risk management, controls, and regulatory engagement.
  • Experience interacting with regulators and managing regulatory priorities across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical capability, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, planning, resource management, and performance measurement.
  • Outstanding communication, executive presence, and stakeholder‑management skills, with demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and drive alignment.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including building and developing high‑performing teams in global, matrixed organisations.
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast‑paced, evolving environments while managing multiple priorities.
  • Consistently demonstrates sound judgment, integrity, and a commitment to the highest standards of conduct and control.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, master’s degree or equivalent advanced qualification preferred.
