This is a high-impact role that sits at the intersection of data governance, risk controls, and cross‑functional collaboration, giving you direct visibility into how data quality underpins Citi's control environment.
Responsibilities
- Identify critical data elements across supervisory and transaction monitoring controls by conducting structured SQL reviews, ensuring data quality rules are accurately defined and fit for purpose.
- Monitor data quality exceptions on an ongoing basis, performing root cause analysis to determine the underlying cause of threshold breaches and coordinating with technology teams to drive timely remediation.
- Manage and prioritise data‑related risks, dependencies, and issues, escalating where necessary to ensure timely resolution and control effectiveness.
- Conduct ad‑hoc data analysis to interrogate, reconcile, and validate datasets, providing quality‑assured outputs before they are shared with stakeholders.
- Consult with business users to assess integration requirements and identify opportunities for system enhancements and process automation that improve data management outcomes.
- Develop and implement mitigation strategies to address identified data gaps and deficiencies, reducing control risk in a structured and timely manner.
- Contribute to the development of KPIs and metrics that enable stakeholders to assess control performance and data quality trends over time.
- Ensure all data management activities align with Citi's risk frameworks, policies, and risk appetite, supporting accurate and timely reporting within the Managers Control Assessment.
- Required Qualifications & Skills
- Proficiency in SQL, with the ability to interrogate complex datasets and conduct structured data reviews to support control identification and exception analysis.
- Experience in data quality management, including the definition of data rules, threshold monitoring, and exception investigation within a regulated or financial services environment.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis on data issues, translating findings into clear remediation actions in collaboration with technology and business teams.
- Understanding of risk and control frameworks, with the ability to ensure data activities are consistently aligned to governance standards and policy requirements.
- Strong analytical capability, with experience running ad‑hoc analysis and reconciling data across multiple sources to surface actionable insights.
- Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to present data quality findings and control metrics to a range of internal stakeholders.
- Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with supervisory or transaction monitoring controls within a financial markets or banking context.
- Experience working with issue‑tracking and workflow management tools to coordinate data remediation activity across technical and business teams.
- Exposure to database architecture and infrastructure concepts, including an understanding of how data systems interconnect to support business processes.
- Experience producing KPIs or management information reports to support governance and control oversight activities.
