Role Overview

Part of the Enterprise Data organisation, this role leads the engineering of cloud-native data services for the firm’s strategic platform, driving the migration to Databricks and delivering scalable Spark/Scala solutions on AWS. The overall objective of this role is to lead applications systems analysis and programming activities. Proven leadership in building and scaling enterprise data services, driving cloud transformation, optimising performance, capacity, and delivering AI enabled operational and analytics platform.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, engineering and delivery of next generation cloud data services supporting data pre-processing, advances matching engines, AI/GenAI services and large-scale data platforms.
  • This role will drive transformation of enterprise data capabilities using Databricks, scala/spark and cloud native architectures, ensuring platform is stable, scalable, resilient, secure and AI enabled.
  • As platform landscape evolved towards cloud-native, AI enabled and highly scalable architecture, there is need for dedicated senior engineering capability to design, implement and optimise Databricks/AWS-based data solutions across GRU tech space.
  • Develop application methodologies and standards for program analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of supported main system flows and comprehensive knowledge of multiple areas to achieve technology goals.
  • Consult with end users to identify system function specifications and incorporate into overall system design.
  • Allocate work, and act as an advisor/coach developers, analysts, and new team members.
  • Influence and negotiate with senior leaders and communicate with external parties.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Proven in-depth commercial experience in the following key areas:
    • Databricks – Lakehouse architecture, Spark, Delta Lake, workflows and performance tuning.
    • Apache Spark & Scala – High-performance distributed data processing and optimisation.
    • Cloud Data Engineering (AWS) – Cloud-native data platforms and distributed computing.
    • Data Services Architecture & Engineering – Distributed processing, reprocessing, streaming and scalable data services.
    • Engineering Architecture & Technical Delivery – Solution architecture, engineering governance, CI/CD and technical leadership.

Experience in implementing projects. Experience in systems analysis and programming of software applications. Demonstrated Subject Matter Expert (SME) in area(s) of Applications Development. Demonstrated knowledge of client core business functions. Demonstrated leadership, project management, and development skills. Relationship and consensus building skills.

Education
