About the Role:
This role offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative environment, contributing to the growth of our franchise and interacting with a sophisticated client base.
What you will do will be varied day to day, but the key drivers for the role are :
- Execute trades in Credit Corporate Hybrids, implementing relative value strategies across the capital structure and credit spectrum, analysing market conditions, developing trading strategies, and proactively identifying profitable opportunities.
- Responsible for trading Credit Corporate Hybrids, including but not limited to, preferred securities, subordinated debt, contingent convertibles (CoCos), and other related instruments
- Manage daily P&L, ensuring accurate reporting, risk capture, and clear explanations of performance drivers, operating within established risk limits and contributing to the ongoing refinement of risk management frameworks.
- Cultivate and expand relationships with institutional clients (hedge funds, asset managers, insurance companies), understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions (this aspect of the role may vary depending on the specific trading desk structure).
- Stay abreast of market developments, regulations, and industry trends to inform trading strategies and client interactions, contributing market insights to the team and participating in regular market discussions.
- Leverage existing and contribute to the development of quantitative tools to enhance risk management, identify opportunities, and optimize portfolio performance (proficiency in programming languages like Python is highly desirable).
- Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Research, Structuring, Syndicate) and adhere to all regulations and internal policies, ensuring a robust control framework.
What we will need from you:
- Proven track record of successfully managing a trading book in credit markets, with a strong preference for experience in Credit Corporate Hybrids.
- Deep understanding of hybrid securities, their unique characteristics, valuation methodologies, and the specific risk factors associated with these instruments.
- Understanding of financial institutions, their capital structures, and the broader credit market dynamics is beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with institutional clients, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills (this requirement may vary depending on the specific trading desk structure).
- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities, including proficiency with trading platforms, data analysis tools (Bloomberg, Intex, Excel, VBA), and programming skills (Python highly desirable).
