Job Summary

The Director, Coverage Banker is a senior client-facing role within Citi's Global Network Banking team, based in London, United Kingdom. The role manages a hybrid portfolio of Regional Account Management (RAM) and Subsidiary Account Management (SAM) clients - operating across both parent-level regional mandates and in-country subsidiary relationships within the same coverage framework. The Coverage Banker is responsible for deepening wallet penetration, driving multi-country origination, and delivering complex, cross-border solutions, while simultaneously managing in-country UK subsidiary relationships with the intensity the local market demands. Beyond the existing portfolio, this role carries an explicit mandate to actively grow Citi's market share - identifying, acquiring, and onboarding new regional buying centers of global multinational clients operating in, or establishing operations in, the United Kingdom. The successful candidate will promote and deliver the full One Citi platform across Banking, Services, Markets and other businesses. London's role as the EMEA regional headquarters for a significant proportion of the world's leading multinationals makes this one of Citi's most strategically important GNB coverage roles in the region.

Key Responsibilities Relationship Management & Coverage
  • Build and nurture trusted advisor relationships with regional executives, group treasurers, CFOs, and key decision-makers across both RAM and SAM clients - adapting coverage approach and solution design to the specific structure and needs of each client type.
  • Develop a deep understanding of each client's business strategy, financial wallet, and UK operating structure to proactively identify and pursue revenue opportunities.
  • Maintain high-level strategic dialogue across the portfolio to position Citi as the core banking partner, deepening wallet penetration across both regional and subsidiary relationships.
Origination, Solutioning & New Client Acquisition
  • Drive origination of multi-country deals and complex cross-border solutions across cash management, trade finance, FX, and credit.
  • Architect and manage a pipeline for multi-jurisdictional opportunities, partnering with Product Specialists across TTS, Markets, Trade Finance, and FX to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the UK market and foreign direct investment trends - proactively identifying and acquiring new regional buying centers of multinational clients entering or expanding in the UK to grow Citi's GNB market share.
  • Identify and acquire new prospects, accelerate the onboarding and conversion of net new revenue across both new and existing client relationships.
Strategy & One Citi Delivery
  • Align account activities with strategic initiatives including client planning, wallet sizing, corridor plays, and EMEA business development campaigns.
  • Design and implement sophisticated solutions - including regional liquidity structures, cross-border financing, and supply chain solutions - leveraging the full One Citi platform across Commercial Banking, Investment Banking, and Wealth.
  • Promote cross-business opportunities, ensuring clients benefit from the complete breadth of Citi's capabilities.
Credit & Risk Management
  • Maintain strong credit acumen with solid knowledge of complex, multi-jurisdictional credit structures; lead the coordination of credit requests, including cases requiring standalone approval processes.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the UK regulatory environment, including FCA and PRA requirements, and applicable EU frameworks governing corporate banking and AML/KYC compliance.
Qualifications
  • Substantial experience in corporate or commercial banking with a proven track record in senior coverage banking; experience across both RAM and SAM mandates strongly preferred; deep familiarity with the UK and EMEA corporate banking market is essential.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cross-border treasury solutions, international cash management, and trade finance across key EMEA markets.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute complex, multi-product solutions and lead multi-jurisdictional transactions from origination to close.
  • Strong credit understanding with the ability to assess and structure complex, multi-jurisdictional credit solutions including standalone approval scenarios.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of TTS, FX, Markets, and Trade Finance; familiarity with the broader One Citi platform across Investment Banking and Wealth is advantageous.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to lead complex deal teams and engage credibly at senior executive and C-suite level internally and externally.
  • Fluency in English is required; additional EMEA language skills are advantageous.
