We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Construction Assembly and Installation Instructor to join our team at NCC East, Bircham Newton, delivering high-quality training to apprentices following the Relocatable, Modular and Portable Buildings pathway.

Hours of Work:

Full-time (35 hours per week)

Working Pattern:

Monday to Thursday, 8am - 4:30pm, and Fridays 8am - 11am

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced construction professional to share their practical knowledge and industry expertise, helping to develop the next generation of skilled construction workers. We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates currently working, or with recent experience, in the modular, relocatable or portable buildings sector, or from those with strong practical experience in construction assembly, installation, fit-out and site-based construction activities.

Our delivery model is 80% practical and 20% theory, with underpinning knowledge and technical understanding embedded directly into practical activities. You will use your industry experience to demonstrate real-world construction techniques, explain the principles behind the work and help apprentices understand how theory applies to the tasks they are carrying out. This hands-on approach will give apprentices the opportunity to develop the confidence, competence and workplace behaviours needed to succeed in the modular and relocatable construction sector.

You will support apprentices in developing the practical skills, knowledge and behaviours required to work safely and effectively within the industry.

What you’ll be doing:

• Plan and deliver engaging, interactive lessons aligned to industry practices and organisational teaching strategies
• Develop high-quality, inclusive teaching and assessment resources
• Provide individualised support based on initial assessments and prior learning
• Offer regular, constructive feedback to support learner progress and achievement
• Monitor and track progress using a Learner Management System
• Support learners to develop their English, maths, digital and employability skills
• Work collaboratively with Apprenticeship Development Coaches and contribute to learner reviews
• Identify learners at risk and implement effective intervention strategies
• Promote a safe, inclusive learning environment, adhering to safeguarding and health & safety policies
• Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, industry professionals and stakeholders
• Stay up to date with developments in both construction and teaching methodologies

What we’re looking for:

You will ideally bring hands-on industry experience in areas such as modular building assembly, installation, positioning and connection of units, structural components, external and internal fit-out, reading and interpreting drawings, working to specifications, and working safely within a construction site environment. Experience of supervising or mentoring apprentices, trainees or junior members of a construction team would also be highly valued.

You do not need previous teaching experience. If you have the right industry background, practical skills and enthusiasm to pass your knowledge on to others, we would like to hear from you. Full support will be provided to help you develop your teaching, training and assessment skills.

• Minimum of Level 2 vocational qualification directly related to the role applied for
• Relevant industry experience in the construction industry in a related role
• Excellent knowledge of current industry practices
• Minimum of Level 3 teaching qualification (or commitment to achieve within one year of commencing role)
• Assessor Awards (or commitment to achieve within one year of commencing)
• Evidence of continuous professional development
• Excellent verbal and written skills
• Hold a Level 2 qualification or higher in English and maths or demonstrate proficiency at Level 2 or above through a recognised assessment in both subjects
• Excellent organisational skills
• Knowledge, skills, and experience in Microsoft Office 365
• Higher level construction related qualification
• Level 5 teaching qualification
• Experience of apprenticeship delivery
