We are looking for an Information Governance Manager to help us strengthen how we manage, protect, and use information across the organisation, ensuring it is accurate, secure, and used responsibly to support better outcomes for our customers and stakeholders.

About the Role

The Information Governance Manager plays a crucial role in the day-to-day management and execution of CITB’s information governance framework. This includes implementing processes for records management, data retention and compliance monitoring. The role is intended to be a first point of contact for information governance and records management matters within the business and reports directly to the Head of Information Governance.

Information Governance Operations

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the information governance function, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations and CITB policies.
  • Ensure that the information governance framework is effectively implemented within the Information Governance Team and across the organisation.
  • Operational oversight of the implementation of internal policies and procedures in relation to information governance and records management to ensure compliance with CITB’s legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Make decisions related to day-to-day operational processes and make tactical decisions about workflows, resources and priorities within the Information Governance Team.
  • Collaborate with teams across CITB to ensure adherence to information governance policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of information governance activities, audits and compliance status.
  • Manage the audit process (including supporting audit preparation, documentation and audit reporting).
  • Manage and apply CITB’s data retention policy and ensure timely deletion where applicable; provide guidance on best practices for managing organisational information.
  • Work closely with and advise the Head of Information Governance to assist them with sign‑off of information governance policies, procedures and standards for information/data access, quality, retention, records management and deletion and ensure that the procedures and policies are being followed.
  • Manage and maintain a data classification system to ensure that information is appropriately handled based on severity, sensitivity and business need.

Process Improvement and Compliance

  • Continuously evaluate and improve information governance processes to align with evolving regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of information governance training for colleagues across CITB.
  • Keep informed on emerging regulations and trends in information governance and privacy to ensure CITB’s practices are up to date.

Team Leadership and Management

  • Oversee the execution of tasks within the Information Governance Team.
  • Supervise the Information Governance Coordinator, providing clear direction on responsibilities, priorities and workflows.
  • Conduct regular one‑on‑one meetings with the Information Governance Coordinator to provide feedback and ensure alignment with team objectives.
  • Act as a liaison between the Head of Information Governance and the Information Governance Coordinator, ensuring seamless communication and efficient task management.

Collaboration with the Data Privacy Manager

  • Support the Data Privacy Manager to address privacy concerns, complaints and incidents related to information governance and data privacy.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Ensure the accurate recording of complaints, incidents (including data breaches) and resolutions related to information governance.
  • Maintain and track logs, records and documentation related to information governance and data privacy compliance, with the support of the Information Governance Coordinator.
