This exciting role sits within the Policy team, where you’ll take the lead on engagement across the Further Education (FE) policy landscape. You’ll play a key part in ensuring CITB’s expertise helps shape the development and delivery of policies that will directly impact how the next generation of the construction workforce is trained. Based in our London Policy & Government Relations team, you’ll report to the Senior Policy & Government Relations Manager and work collaboratively across CITB and with external stakeholders. Your work will ensure CITB continues to provide trusted, evidence-based insight to inform critical policy discussions.

About the Role

In this role, you will engage directly with government to:

  • Build and strengthen CITB’s evidence base, informing strategy and policy development
  • Influence government policy to support CITB’s objectives for the construction industry
  • Position CITB as the leading authority on construction skills, recognised for insight and expertise

You’ll also develop and manage strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including ministers, parliamentarians, elected officials, and civil servants.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Driving Policy Engagement - Work closely with the Senior Policy and Government Relations Advisor (UK) to design and deliver engagement plans across your policy areas. You’ll align activity with CITB’s wider strategy, track impact, and share insights to continuously improve outcomes. You’ll also coordinate senior leadership involvement where appropriate.
  • Building Influence & Representation - Raise CITB’s profile among key political and policy influencers, creating advocates for the organisation. Represent CITB at roundtables, conferences, and industry events, while supporting senior colleagues—including Directors and the CEO—in high-level engagement.
  • Shaping Evidence & Insight - Collaborate with in-house experts to develop a strong evidence base for policy activity. You’ll help translate research and insight into compelling narratives that resonate with decision-makers and support CITB’s policy ambitions.
  • Creating Impactful Content - Develop high-quality influencing materials, including reports, briefings, presentations, and consultation responses. You’ll ensure CITB’s voice is clear, credible, and impactful in government discussions.
  • Monitoring the Policy Landscape - Provide robust monitoring of political and policy developments affecting CITB. You’ll analyse key announcements, share insights, and offer informed advice to support strategic decision-making.

What we’re looking for:

  • A good understanding of the political system
  • Experience managing, implementing and evaluating proactive political engagement campaigns, including policy development
  • Experience of working with MPs, Ministers, and civil servants
  • Experience of adhering to processes and procedures, in line with business excellence
  • Working with senior leaders and managers to provide measured advice
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and built environment.
  • Knowledge of policy issues related to skills, training and employment

Special Conditions/Other Requirements: Some travel required around UK. 25 days holiday +
