We’re looking for an experienced and inspiring Programme Manager for English and Mathematics to lead our provision across NCC England and Scotland. Grade: SL1
Target Salary: £58,633 per annum
Additional Benefits: £6,799 Car Allowance per annum
Location: Mobile working covering NCC sites including NCC East (Bircham Newton), NCC South (Erith) and NCC Scotland (Inchinnan)
About the Role
As Programme Manager, you will set the strategic and operational direction for our English and mathematics programmes, ensuring that every learner develops the essential literacy and numeracy skills needed for life, work, and the wider economy. You will lead and develop a dedicated team of English and mathematics lecturers, providing expert guidance, fostering a culture of excellence, and ensuring compliance with all quality, regulatory and awarding body requirements. This is a role for someone who can blend leadership, curriculum expertise, quality assurance, and relationship management to deliver outstanding results across multiple sites.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide operational leadership to the English and mathematics provision across NCC sites
- Line management for a team of eight lecturers, driving high performance, motivation, and continuous development
- Champion excellence in teaching, learning and assessment in line with CITB’s strategy
- Ensure all learners receive high-quality English and mathematics education aligned to industry needs
- Embed Ofsted EIF/SDS requirements into everyday delivery
- Oversee the planning, delivery and compliance of exams and assessment activities
- Lead on accreditation processes and maintain positive relationships with awarding bodies
- Deliver against internal quality and financial KPIs
- Implement quality improvement strategies and support the creation of SARs and QIPs
- Lead the curriculum planning process ensuring financial viability
- Develop and maintain high-quality curriculum resources
- Plan and implement lecturer and learner timetables
- Oversee the learner-at-risk process to ensure timely intervention
- Ensure all learners further develop English and maths skills, regardless of qualification exemptions
- Foster a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
- Work with internal teams, employers, industry partners, and support services
- Ensure industry specialisms remain current and relevant to the curriculum
- Support apprenticeship delivery and contribute to Initial Teacher Training where required
What we’re looking for:
- Minimum of Level 5 English or mathematics qualification
- Level 5 teaching qualification
- Successful teaching experience in an educational setting
- Excellent knowledge of current teaching, learning and assessment practices
- Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification – or be willing to work towards
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Ability to solve complex problems
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve results
- Knowledge, skills, and experience in Microsoft Office 365
- Higher level English or mathematics related qualification
- Experience of apprenticeship delivery
