Safety Management Advisory Services is a specialist and rapidly growing Safety, Health, Environment and Quality compliance company working with many of the leading UK House Builders and Construction companies in managing their approved contractors Health & Safety requirements. As a registered member of Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) Forum and Build UK, we offer a range of nationally recognised HSEQ compliance schemes.

Overview

As an SSIP Assessor, you will engage with customers primarily via telephone and email, conducting thorough assessments of their management systems to ensure compliance with the relevant standards. Using your expertise, you will evaluate whether companies meet the required criteria, providing constructive feedback both verbally and through our assessment portal, where findings will be documented. In this role, you will manage your own portfolio of assessments, including standard and referred assessments (FI’s), and actively pursue your continuous professional development with guidance from the Technical Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform allocated health and safety assessments in accordance with SSIP Core Criteria and internal standards.
  • Ensure all assessments meet defined service level agreements.
  • Carry out assessments impartially, consistently, and fairly.
  • Provide exceptional customer service in all customer interactions.
  • Adhere to professional conduct and the SSIP assessor's code of conduct.
  • Contribute to team effectiveness by actively participating in group discussions, activities, and exercises.
  • Stay up to date with relevant health and safety legislation, SSIP Core Criteria, and internal processes.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Support continuous improvement of business processes and practices.
  • Report any potential conflicts of interest to the management team.

Competence Requirements:

It is essential that you have successfully completed at least one of the following qualifications:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • NEBOSH Certificate in Construction.
  • British Safety Council (BSC) Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • NVQ Level 6 Certificate in Applied Health & Safety.
  • A higher-level health and safety qualification.

You are expected to have a good understanding of the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 and UK Health & Safety legislation. You are required to have completed the SSIP Assessor Training course prior to joining (or achieve certification within your probationary period).

It is desirable for you to have successfully completed the following qualifications:

  • NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate or equivalent.
  • iRCA ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor/ Lead Auditor Training Course or equivalent.
  • Construction Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS).
  • Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS).
