The Assistant Tax Manager – Europe will drive tax and statutory compliance for European group companies, collaborating with a dedicated tax team, the European Financial Controller, and US Associate Tax Director to ensure accurate and timely tax filings and statutory financial statements. This role offers a motivated tax professional the opportunity to excel in a dynamic, international finance team.
Key Responsibilities- Manage corporate income tax compliance and filings for European entities, partnering with local advisors and internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate timely and accurate preparation and filing of VAT, withholding tax, and other indirect tax returns, overseeing local accounting teams responsible for filings.
- Monitor changes in European tax legislation, focusing on key jurisdictions (e.g., UK, Germany, France), and assess business impacts.
- Support tax audits, inquiries, and correspondence with local tax authorities, including internal and external audits for tax and statutory compliance.
- Support preparation and filing of annual statutory financial statements for European entities, focusing on tax-related components, in collaboration with external providers and internal finance teams.
- Enhance internal processes for tax compliance and statutory reporting to meet deadlines and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with transfer pricing documentation, intercompany arrangements, and tax planning strategies as directed by the US tax team.
- Contribute to annual IFRS tax footnote preparation.
- Assist with global tax audits, including data preparation and coordination with regional teams.
- Provide ad hoc support for international tax and finance projects.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in tax compliance or tax accounting, ideally in a multinational corporate or Big 4 / public accounting setting.
- Strong knowledge of European corporate and indirect tax regulations.
- Experience with tax-related aspects of statutory financial statement preparation under local GAAPs and/or IFRS.
- Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills, with attention to detail and ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
- Fluent in English; additional European languages are a plus.
- Professional certification such as Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA), CPA, or equivalent.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, NetSuite), advanced Excel, and tax reporting software (e.g., OneSource).
