As a Specialist Systems Engineer, you will serve as the technical authority for Cisco’s comprehensive Campus Switching portfolio. You will own the technical relationship with customers and partners, driving architectural excellence across both on-premises (Catalyst Centre) and cloud-managed (Meraki) networking environments. You will act as the primary specialist technical influencer, translating complex business requirements into robust, scalable, and secure campus switching solutions that leverage the best of Cisco’s diverse switching ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Domain Expertise: Serve as the regional SME for Cisco’s Campus Switching portfolio, including deep expertise in Cisco Catalyst (on-premises/SD-Access) and Cisco Meraki (cloud-managed switching).
  • Architectural Leadership: Lead the pre-sales engagement for complex campus networks, advising customers on the right architectural fit—whether on-premises, cloud-managed, or hybrid—to meet their specific operational needs.
  • Strategic Engagement: Partner with account teams to identify growth opportunities across the switching domain, displacing competition through superior architectural design, TCO analysis, and demonstrating the value of Cisco’s AI-driven platforms.
  • Technical Advocacy: Lead high-level technical demonstrations, proof-of-concepts (POCs), and design workshops for IT executives, focusing on the operational simplicity of cloud-managed platforms alongside the power of Catalyst.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a bridge between customers, the Cisco Business Entities, and the broader sales organization to provide feedback on product features and market requirements.
  • Enablement: Mentor the broader SE community, providing structured enablement to elevate the team’s proficiency in modern networking.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive Strategy: Actively contribute to account planning by identifying opportunities to modernize campus infrastructure, positioning the right solution (on-premises or Cloud Managed) based on customer business goals.
  • Lead Innovation: Drive solution conversations with technical executives, positioning Cisco’s switching portfolio as the foundation for digital transformation and simplified IT operations.
  • Competitive Positioning: Leverage deep competitive insights to differentiate Cisco’s hybrid switching strategy against pure-play cloud or legacy competitors.
  • Execution: Manage the technical sales cycle from discovery to close.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree + 7 years of related experience, or Master’s + 4 years, or PhD + 1 year.
  • Proven experience in designing and deploying enterprise-grade campus switching solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications: Current CCIE (Enterprise Infrastructure) or CCNP (Enterprise) is highly preferred. CMNA (Cisco Meraki Network Associate) or similar cloud-networking certifications are a strong plus.
  • Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of Cisco Catalyst switching platforms, SD-Access, Meraki cloud-managed switching, and network automation (for example Python/Ansible).
  • Consultative Skills: Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts (e.g., cloud-managed vs. on-prem control planes) into business value for non-technical stakeholders.
