Isovalent, now part of Cisco, is seeking a technical writer responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining documentation for Isovalent products. You will write documentation for Cilium, Tetagon, Timescape and other products leveraging eBPF and other innovating technologies. You will work closely with engineering, solution architects, marketing, and community teams to support high‑quality content across conceptual docs, getting‑started guides, tutorials, reference documentation, operational guides, and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to technical documentation for Isovalent’s distribution, including operational documentation, training materials, and user guides.
- Collaborate with engineering and solution architect teams to gather information and develop high‑quality technical content.
- Participate in reviews, surveys, and feedback sessions with customers to help identify opportunities for documentation and information architecture improvements.
- Share documentation best practices with maintainers, product team members, and the broader community.
- Help support documentation processes within the open‑source community, including reviewing contributions and improving contributor guidance.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience as a Technical writer for Enterprise products and experienced in leadership roles.
- Experienced in networking, security, and Cloud Native technologies.
- Experienced in writing user guides, documentation and helping enterprise users.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent English writing skills.
- 1+ years of experience working with documentation frameworks or platforms (e.g., Read the Docs).
- Solid understanding of documentation structure, flow, and organization.
- Ability to collaborate closely with subject‑matter experts to translate technical knowledge into clear documentation.
- Familiarity with Markdown and reStructuredText.
- Basic understanding of GitHub and Git workflows.
- Experience conducting or contributing to user research to improve documentation is a plus.
