Overview
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Security Officer for the hospitality sector, who will demonstrate and deliver high quality guarding and customer service to both our customers and service users. This position is for a large trust who will be part of a major 24-hour security operation. Security personnel play a crucial role in ensuring that hospital environments remain welcoming, accessible, and safe for patients, visitors, and staff. With regular interaction across all areas of the site, the successful candidate will be responsible for safeguarding buildings and valuable equipment, while maintaining a thorough understanding of the premises. We are seeking a professional who can confidently manage and de-escalate potentially challenging situations, and respond effectively in emergency scenarios.

- Location: Woolwich (SE18) & Lewisham (SE13)
- Pay Rate: £12.21 per hour
- Hours: 20 hours per week
- Shifts: Nights - 20:00 to 06:00
Requirements
- SIA Door Supervisor Licence required
- Security Experience is required
- Experience of security within a healthcare environment would be an advantage
- Experience of dealing with individuals in a stressed or aggressive state
- You must also be physically able to walk up to 7 miles / 10 km on each shift
- Good command of English language

- Be naturally inquisitive and observant and have a desire to provide the best possible service
- You will have a mature attitude towards the job
- You will be able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
- Excellent customer service and communication (written & verbal)

Job Responsibilities
- 24 hour security of the Trust property, monitoring of the Trust CCTV system, security of the A&E Department
- Respond promptly to requests for assistance, fire alarm activation, and ambulance arrivals
- Manage challenging situations involving aggressive or distressed patients and visitors with professionalism and discretion
- Work well within a team and make quick decisions in emergency response situations with minimal supervision
- Operate within the Security Control Room, CCTV monitoring, review systems and access control systems
- Answer telephone calls from staff for assistance and deal with other requests for help or information
- Monitor Fire/Building/Staff Attack alarm systems and coordinate appropriate responses
- Call Emergency Services where appropriate and liaise with them during incidents
- Control radio communications within the department
- Carry out security patrols of the buildings and grounds and administrative tasks such as daily paperwork and incident reporting
- Respond to requests for security assistance
- Challenge suspicious persons and deal with problem patients/visitors with discretion and diplomacy
- Identify and report health and safety issues discovered during patrols
- Monitor and manage traffic flow and unauthorised parking around the site
- Locking down and opening up of the hospital, and other ad hoc requests for access
- Control and issue of keys, and logging/loading of lost property
- Be naturally inquisitive and observant with a desire to provide the best possible service
- Undertake 100% of all specified duties and provide documentation and vetting information as requested
