Our teams of AWS certified people work with our customers to help them deliver their strategic objectives by designing, building, migrating and supporting their cloud technology projects.
Due to continued growth, we have an immediate vacancy for a Cloud Systems Administrator to join our team. This role can be fully remote based in the UK.
About the Role: As a Cloud Systems Administrator at CirrusHQ you will primarily be responsible for the delivery of a wide variety of Professional Services projects and working within our managed services team to resolve incidents and action customer service requests. No two days are the same at CirrusHQ with various projects from the Public Sector, Education and private sector. These projects can include:
- Building automated data-driven solutions to build repeatable and recyclable exam environments in the cloud
- Building virtual classrooms to stream applications directly to a student's desktops around the world
- Virtualising a university museum collection
- Collecting data from the stratosphere to measure global climate change
You will act as an internal escalation point for the managed service team to resolve complex issues including priority 1 outages and non-standard tickets. Using your skills, you’ll bring best practice experience to align our managed services customers' infrastructure to a high standard and identify opportunities for customer improvement. You’ll join our on-call rota to support our Managed Services customer base 24x7 out of hours.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Building positive customer relationships and identifying opportunities
- Working closely with the project team to deliver the project to a high standard, to the project scope within the project time and budget constraints
- Support solutions architects in hands-on project delivery
- Applying and challenging best practices to ensure a secure, optimised and efficient AWS infrastructure across our customer base
- Act as a point of escalation for technical outages/issues
- Identifying root cause of issues and reporting to the customer / internal teams
- Day to day management of customer workloads including deployments
- Working directly with our customers on a daily basis
- Participation in a 24/7 on call rota
- Attendance at client meetings and company events where required
- Involvement in maintaining our high level standard of our NPS Score, AWS relationship and driving business growth with the delivery of Service Delivery Programs
Experience (Essential):
- A minimum of 2x associate AWS certifications
- Two or more years’ experience with core AWS Services including Load Balancing, EC2, RDS, CloudFront, S3 and CloudWatch
- Experience with modernisation legacy architectures such as containerisation or microservices
- Experience in building and supporting AWS serverless solutions such as API Gateway, Lambda, SQS, Eventbridge and Step Functions
- Experience with best practices of deployment mechanisms to deploy releases across multiple environments (AWS native tooling preferred, other technologies accepted)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling such as CloudFormation, Terraform or Serverless Framework
- Experience of delivering projects to a strict timescale and budget
- Ability to write scripts to automate solutions (preferably in Python)
Experience (Nice to have):
- AWS Certification at professional level
- Knowledge of typical on-premise environments such as hypervisor, storage and backup vendors
- Leadership skills
