What you’ll be doing as the Network Security Engineer

  • Supporting 24/7 security operations as part of the Internal Security Response (ISR) team, with a focus on incident response and triage.
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security solutions around network infrastructure.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance security policies, identify vulnerabilities, and optimise network tools.
  • Engaging with firewalls such as Checkpoint, Cisco, or Palo Alto, and managing secure proxy solutions like Bluecoat and Riverbed.
  • Monitoring, troubleshooting, and fine-tuning network architectures, routing, switching, VLANs, and load balancing features.

Network Security Engineer experience & skills

  • Strong understanding of networking principles – TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, VLANs, and load balancing.
  • Hands‑on experience configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting firewalls (Checkpoint, Cisco, Palo Alto, Bluecoat).
  • Knowledge of IPS/IDS, SSL decryption, deep packet inspection, and VPNs.
  • Experience managing secure proxy solutions, and monitoring platforms like Nagios or PRTG.
  • Familiarity with security protocols such as IPSec, SSL/TLS, and two‑factor authentication.

Security clearance is essential – applicants must be British citizens and will undergo DV clearance.
