Systems Proving Engineer
Based in Bristol
Salary up to Β£46,500
Ever wondered what happens after a system leaves the drawing board and has to prove itself in the real world? That's this job.
You'll join a growing systems integration and trials team working on naval-based air defence systems, taking equipment from the lab through to sea trials and live firing trials. It's varied, hands-on, and genuinely consequential work, with UK and overseas travel built into the role.
What you'll actually do
- Plan, generate, and execute trials alongside systems engineering and design teams
- Investigate and resolve design issues using real trials data
- Run post trials data analysis and write up findings
- Prepare and deliver Trials Readiness Reviews, internally and externally
- Get involved across the full range of testing, laboratory integration, ground trials, harbour and sea trials, firing trials, including some conducted abroad
- Support lab management, including risk assessments, asset control, and safety
What you'll need (essential)
- Solid experience in systems integration, test, or trials work, ideally in defence, naval, or another safety critical engineering environment
- Comfortable working across electrical, mechanical, or electronic interfaces
- Confident communicating with engineers, subcontractors, and management alike
- Eligible for UK security clearance, meaning British citizenship or dual UK nationality with British citizenship is required.
Nice to have (desirable, not essential)
- Exposure to MBSE tools such as DOORS, Rhapsody, or RTC
- Some Python or scripting experience
- Background in missile systems, network integration, or design verification and acceptance testing
