We are hiring a Reliability Engineer who will be responsible for driving qualification on our new product developments. The role focuses on collaborating with internal development engineering teams and external customers to define requirements for the reliability testing and product qualification of our mixed‑signal CMOS Integrated Circuit (IC) products.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership within the global reliability engineering team.
- Own and lead the new product reliability and qualification plan and risk assessment from the initial concept phase through mass production.
- Support cross‑functional product teams to ensure effective stress testing through the qualification process.
- Collaborate with the wafer fab technology team to understand and evaluate silicon reliability with a focus on company specific IP.
- Work with the assembly and packaging team to evaluate new packaging techniques and component/board level reliability stress testing.
- Work with internal and external technical groups to develop new capability and reliability methodologies.
- Support the customer quality engineering team to engage customers and ensure that reliability and quality meet internal and external standards.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions in collaboration with design, process, and manufacturing teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- BEng/BS in Engineering or Physics with hands‑on experience in product reliability engineering.
- Experience defining and executing IC reliability qualification plans in accordance with JEDEC and other industry standards (e.g., automotive, industrial).
- Working knowledge of intrinsic and extrinsic reliability requirements.
- Ability to specify stress conditions (HTOL, HAST, TC, UHAST, ESD, Latch‑Up), sample sizes, interim read‑points, and pass/fail criteria for new product qualification and requalification activities in line with the manufacturing strategy.
- Understanding of semiconductor device physics, IC manufacturing, and packaging technologies.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer communication skills.
- Understanding of quality system requirements.
- Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to use data‑driven approaches to resolve quality and reliability issues.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience of automotive reliability requirements (e.g., AEC Q100).
- Knowledge and experience of common silicon and package failure mechanisms.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines, and work efficiently as part of a team or independently.
- Strong data analysis skills with an analytical approach to assessing and identifying alternative courses of action for resolving unique and diverse technical problems.
This position is based in our Edinburgh office, UK. Applicants must be based within commutable distance of the work location listed above, or willing to relocate prior to beginning employment with Cirrus Logic. Export control restrictions apply.
