We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Facilities Engineer to join our team in Edinburgh and help maintain our modern city centre facility. The Facilities Engineer will be responsible for carrying out routine maintenance and repairs to ensure our facilities operate efficiently and safely. In this role you will help to troubleshoot issues, conduct preventive maintenance, respond to unplanned issues, and oversee contractors to maintain high standards of performance.
Responsibilities
- Provide preventative and reactive maintenance support for site services and equipment
- Troubleshoot any issues and repair any issues to minimize downtime and prevent disruptions to operations
- Complete minor facilities improvements and reactive works as and when required
- Contractor management, coordinating planned/unplanned works, and oversee on‑site work to ensure tasks are performed to required standards
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure all equipment and systems are functioning correctly
- Support Environment, Health, and Safety and Facilities compliance
- Manage project timelines, onsite completion as well as compliance with building codes
- Support internal audit activities and contribute to continual improvements
- Actively support the planning, organization, and implementation of annual maintenance shutdowns
- Track maintenance, work orders, and other ad hoc items
- Fulfil a variety of ad hoc responsibilities
- Support maintenance contracts renewal and procurement of parts / servicing work
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Possesses solid understanding of building services systems including electrical and mechanical
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to manage change effectively
- Ability to prioritize competing tasks and deadlines and complete multiple priorities with minimal supervision
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills & attention to details
- Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as systems experience such as SAP, maintenance management system or similar
- Project management skills (Small construction projects within the premises as well as M&E’s upgrades within labs and offices)
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Extensive facilities or maintenance experience is preferred
- Experience with UPS Systems, chilled water systems, low voltage distribution networks, Building Management Systems, compressed air, knowledge of controlling legionella in water systems
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards are an advantage
- Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements is an advantage
- An engineering degree or an equivalent qualification with proven post‑qualification experience working in a maintenance environment
- Proven experience as a Facilities Maintenance Engineer/coordinator or trades person
This position is based in our Edinburgh office and requires to be onsite Monday to Friday from approximately 8:00am to 4:30pm. Weekend and after‑hours work may periodically be required. There might also be the need to travel to other sites as needed.

Candidates for this role must be able to access technical data without a requirement for an export license. We are unable to sponsor or obtain export licenses for this role.
