We have a fantastic opportunity for an Engineering Lab Supervisor to join our team based in our Edinburgh facility. You will be working with a diverse range of cross‑functional groups managing the engineering labs within the Edinburgh and Newbury sites. You will manage a group of technicians who support the Engineering R&D teams. You will have the opportunity to work in a truly global environment, with exceptional benefits available in return. Key Responsibilities:

  • Management: Supervise a group of skilled electronics technicians located in Newbury and Edinburgh sites. Manage and co‑ordinate equipment calibration across UK lab facilities. Be responsible for lab quality and health & safety.
  • Lab Operations: Implement and document lab procedures, ensure proper setup of test stations, and manage and document inventory efficiently through calibration and maintenance tasks. Research and procure specialist lab equipment and consumables.
  • Advanced Board Work: Be able to perform surface‑mount soldering related to the assembly, repair, and rework of printed circuit boards populated with surface mount components.
  • Customization: Design and build various custom cable and prototyping board assemblies and perform mechanical modifications to hardware platforms.
  • System Debug: Use electronic schematics and layout diagrams to assemble, debug, and fix problems at the board or system level under the mentorship of senior engineers.
  • Test Execution: Implement the proper execution of defined test experiments and run simple test sequences to verify board functionality.
  • Troubleshooting Support: Help debug test set‑up issues (Hardware/Software) to ensure test sequences complete with minimal issues.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • An Electrical, Electronic Engineering national qualification or equivalent.
  • Good team player with open, clear and precise communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills; self‑driven with ability to manage workload and motivate others to achieve team goals.
  • Be able to manage and assign predicted workload across technician team.
  • Experience and comfort working with standard lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, etc.
  • Ability to read/interpret circuit board schematics, specification documents, rework instructions.
  • Soldering skills and knowledge of PCB repair techniques.
  • Good mechanical skills for the design and adaption of prototyping hardware.
  • Strong organization, documentation, and communication skills for recording results and managing lab assets.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a similar supervisory or leadership role within an electronics lab environment.
  • Basic software knowledge in programming such as C or scripting language such as Python.
  • Familiarity with schematic capture tools.

This position is based in our Edinburgh office, UK. You must be based within commutable distance of the work location listed on the job posting, or willing to relocate prior to beginning employment with Cirrus Logic. Export control restrictions based upon applicable laws and regulations would prohibit candidates who are nationals of certain embargoed countries from working in this position without Cirrus Logic first obtaining an export license.
