We have a fantastic opportunity for a talented engineer to join our Validation Engineering team. You will be a major contributor of the pre-silicon emulation/post-silicon validation team, passionate about bringing groundbreaking Mixed Signal Audio chips to market. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute bench level tests according to the validation plan during pre-silicon and post-silicon phases to ensure product meets functionality and performance as per the datasheet.
  • Bench test and debug of embedded on-chip circuitry (amplifiers, data converters, power converters, etc.) to ensure functionality and performance as per the datasheet.
  • Work with Validation and Production Test engineering peers to implement best practices and continuous improvements to Cirrus Logic backend test methodologies.
  • Collaborate closely with Design, Systems, and Application Engineers to understand requirements and use cases.
  • Design, develop, and debug silicon validation board-level hardware and bring-up the platforms prior to first silicon.
  • Develop automated test framework and regression test suites in Python to optimize validation efficiency.
  • Analyse test results and identify failures/defects using business intelligence tools such as Spotfire.
  • Write technical reports/summaries of all data collected.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electronics or other related subject area, and relevant experience in a related field.
  • Advanced electrical engineering knowledge in audio electronics, analog, digital or power electronics.
  • Solid hands-on experience in lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, audio analyzers, logic analysers, spectrum analysers for measurement and debugging issues.
  • Sound electrical engineering knowledge in analog, digital, power electronics or audio engineering. This includes mixed signal building blocks such as ADC, DAC, PLLs, amplifiers, signal processing and measurement, IC control/communication protocols.
  • Self-motivated with excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail - you will need to understand silicon, board and software interactions.
  • A highly driven approach to problem solving.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in areas such as post silicon validation, mixed-signal IP block design/validation, audio related signal processing, power management and algorithm, validation related automation framework.
  • Experience using simulation tools such as LTSpice to support circuit design.
  • Experience in various automation framework hardware tools (FPGA, DSP, NI Data Acquisition) or software tools/languages (Scripting languages such as C and Python, SQL, test sequencers such as NI Teststand, Spotfire, schematic capture tools).
  • Shown proficiency in system understanding of various industry interface standards such as I2C, SPI, USB, I2S, TDM or high-speed control/data bus as example.
  • Experience in version control tools such as Git, SVN and Perforce.

This position is based in our Edinburgh office, UK. You must be based within commutable distance of the work location listed on the job posting, or willing to relocate prior to beginning employment with Cirrus Logic.
