We are looking for a Senior Staff or Staff System Test Engineer to help ensure our products are thoroughly tested and our deliveries are robust, scalable, and production‐ready. This is a hands‐on role for someone who can take ownership of test initiatives and serve as a trusted technical partner. Based in Edinburgh, you will work with global cross‐functional teams to develop and improve system test methodologies, strengthen our automation capabilities, support and evolve our test management infrastructure, and help maintain an effective lab environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build comprehensive system test plans for new features and products by translating requirements into effective test coverage.
  • Implement and execute tests across both pre‐silicon and post‐silicon phases of development.
  • Take a lead role in driving test strategy, planning, coordination, risk management, and clear communication of status and issues.
  • Own and evolve the team's test management system, helping to ensure that test assets, coverage, execution, and reporting are organised, scalable, and effective.
  • Manage and support test hardware setups, and play a key role in maintaining an efficient, well‐structured lab environment.
  • Work closely with software, systems, and other cross‐functional teams to identify issues, triage defects, debug failures, and drive timely resolution.
  • Represent System Test in technical discussions, project reviews, and cross‐functional forums.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience in embedded systems and Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
  • Strong experience in software testing and test automation principles, including development of robust, maintainable automated test solutions.
  • Strong experience with scripting in Python.
  • Experience with a variety of MCU and DSP cores/processors.
  • Experience developing and implementing embedded software tests on development boards.
  • Experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analysers for bring‐up and debugging.
  • Excellent debugging, problem‐solving, organisational, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience with Jira, Git, and continuous integration systems such as Jenkins.
  • Experience with test management systems.

This position is based in our Edinburgh, UK office. This is a hybrid remote position and will follow a 2+ day in‐office work schedule, with in‐office days based on business needs and team preference. You must be based within commutable distance of the work location listed on the job posting, or willing to relocate prior to beginning employment with Cirrus Logic.
