Senior Planning Manager — Cambridge

Circular Resourcing are recruiting for a Senior Planning Manager to join one of the UK’s leading development businesses with a strong portfolio of wind and solar projects across the UK.

Responsibilities

  • The job holder will provide professional planning advice and develop planning strategy for individual and multiple projects; lead on the coordination and preparation of planning applications and environmental statements; secure permissions and consents; monitor Local Plans and National policy guidance; deliver expert evidence at inquiries; maintain relationships with key stakeholders; coordinate planning appeals and provide advice on planning procedures, local policy and regulations.
  • Act as the key point of contact with Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) and relevant consultants as part of a multi-disciplinary project team.
  • Develop project planning strategy and design; work on multiple projects as required; prepare planning applications and secure approvals and consents; coordinate submission of planning appeals; monitor consultations; undertake research on development issues; undertake site surveys and report on planning observations.
  • Prepare and coordinate required planning deliverables (screening/scoping opinions, planning applications, Environmental Impact Assessments, appeals and representations) and secure outputs such as permissions, allocations, and discharge of conditions.
  • Procure and manage specialist consultants (planning, renewables, environmental and research); work with Project Managers to advise on scope, timescales, and costs; provide planning input to operations teams for ongoing site planning.
  • Liaise with planning authorities and consultees to secure information requirements and support; assist in community liaison, attend exhibitions and meetings; develop relationships with planning authorities and organisations to support company activities.
  • Work safely in accordance with Health and Safety Plan.

Qualifications, knowledge, and experience

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent with qualifications in or relevant to Town and Country Planning.
  • Experience in preparing and coordinating planning applications / DCOs and liaising with local planning authorities; experience on renewable energy projects, particularly wind.
  • Chartered status of the RTPI or IEMA.
  • Essential: minimum of 5 years’ experience in planning applications coordination and liaison with local authorities; excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and independently; ability to meet tight deadlines; experience with S36 and DCO regimes; full UK driving licence and willingness to travel; RTPI or IEMA chartered status; experience on renewable energy projects and EIA.
  • Desirable: working knowledge of the planning system in England and Scotland.
