Senior Planner / Planning Manager – (MRTPI / Town Planner) – NSIP Onshore Wind

Circular Resourcing is recruiting an experienced Senior Planner / Planning Manager to join a leading renewable energy development business with a strong portfolio of wind and solar projects across the UK.

You will work closely with the Planning Director to manage ongoing planning applications for onshore utility‑scale renewable energy projects in the South of England, the majority of which are Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIP). The office is based in the Cambridge area, so a commutable distance to that location is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional planning advice and lead the coordination and preparation of planning applications and environmental statements.
• Secure all necessary permissions and consents, coordinate with Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) and relevant consultants, and act as the key point of contact for the multi‑disciplined project team.
• Develop planning strategies, monitor local plans, national policy and guidance, and provide expert evidence at public inquiries.
• Maintain and develop relationships with key stakeholders, coordinate planning appeals, and advise on all aspects of planning procedures, local policy and regulations.
• Procure and manage specialist consultants (planners, EIA, environmental, research).
• Work closely with Project Managers to provide inputs on scope, timescales, viable programmes, and planning related costs.
• Support operational sites by providing ongoing planning advice and support.

Qualifications

• Degree level education in Town and Country Planning or a related field.
• Experience preparing and coordinating planning applications (DCOs) and liaising with local planning authorities, with a focus on renewable energy projects, particularly wind.
• Chartered status of the RTPI or IEMA.
