Overview
Senior Land Manager role for a UK Development Company – Wind, Solar, Renewables. Cambridge, UK. The successful candidate will join a leading renewables developer with a strong portfolio of Wind and Solar projects across the UK.
Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Development Director, secure high quality development sites to advance the renewables forward programme.
- Lead land negotiations to achieve specific project and financial objectives.
- Identify new quality renewable generation and flexible energy projects for the company across England and Wales.
- Support the wider team in developing a successful business plan and provide help within estates and business development areas.
- Identify sites pre-planning and, wherever possible, avoid on-market competition.
- Prepare initial development concepts, identify and approach landowners, and agree site and negotiating strategies with the Senior Development Land Manager.
- Use internal and external resources to progress projects to Key Review stages.
- Agree and review site finding strategy with the Senior Development Land Manager regularly.
- Negotiate contracts on behalf of the company with Development Director approval and Board oversight.
- Prepare financial appraisals for Key Review stages and obtain approval for initial budgets to progress sites through Key Review C.
- Liaise with the wider team to support project delivery.
- Conform to the Quality Project Management System relevant to the role.
- Represent the Company at liaison meetings and landowner meetings as required outside normal hours.
- Collaborate with the team to achieve individual and company financial and non-financial targets.
Deliverables
- A portfolio of quality renewable energy sites with good planning prospects and manageable technical constraints.
- Delivery of prospect and project milestones aligned with Business Plan requirements.
- Maximise commercial value of projects and ensure deliverable site strategies.
- Ensure sufficient budget resources are available to projects to avoid delays or compromised quality.
Key Contacts
The role reports to the Development Director and involves coordination with the team and Project Support to progress goals and milestones.
Extensive travel across England; a car allowance will be provided.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
- 5 years’ experience in site finding with strong knowledge of development and land use planning.
- Experience negotiating option contracts.
- Degree level education.
- Full driving licence.
- Experience using IT tools to deliver efficiency and functionality.
Desirable:
- Appreciation of emerging opportunities in the renewables industry.
