Circular Resourcing are recruiting for a Grid Connection Engineer to join a leading owner / operator delivering Utility Scale Solar / BESS Projects based in Reading.
The role will be hybrid, with some travel expected to sites in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and delivery of utility-scale Solar PV and BESS projects from development through to construction stages.
- Prepare and review technical drawings, layouts, and documentation in compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
- Identify grid connection opportunities at 11k V up to 132k V levels. Assess capacity headroom’s and support the Development team to originate projects
- Prepare and submit grid connection applications.
- Review grid connection offers for technical and commercial viability. Liaise with DNO’s to negotiate best possible connection opportunities.
- Supported grid connection and compliance activities in line with UK regulations and standards.
- Provide technical support into grid-related tender processes.
- Assist in managing the interface between DNO/TO and appointed ICPs/third party contractors.
- Provide oversight to consultants and specialists undertaking grid connection power system studies and curtailment assessments.
- Provide technical support and project management during the construction phases of projects.
- Provide technical support into the due diligence process for project acquisitions.
You will join a small, dynamic Engineering Team currently managing a pipeline of opportunities across the UK.
Role will be based in Reading on a hybrid basis, with some site visits.
Ideal profile / experience
- Passion for renewable energy generation.
- Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent industrial experience.
- Experience working with DNOs, i DNOs, and ICPs.
- Experience in utility-scale power generation projects.
- Familiarity with grid construction costs and timelines.
- Knowledge of current grid code and regulations.
- Proficiency in MS Applications (Power Point, Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Deadline-oriented with document management abilities.
