Senior Grid Connection opportunities in Utility Scale Solar / BESS Development Company.
Salary: DOE – will offer an attractive package in London and South East England.
Circular Resourcing are currently recruiting for a number of Grid Connection Management and Engineering opportunities for Development Clients. One opportunity is based in London, and another is based in South East England. Both roles are hybrid, with some travel expected.
You will support projects with the development and construction/delivery of a number of utility scale Solar and BESS projects moving into the Construction phase in the coming months.
About the role: Identifying and securing grid connections for solar and energy storage projects across the UK. You’ll need to be a good communicator with both the internal team and external consultants working on behalf of the developer – being able to advise and work with the development and land acquisition teams around new and ongoing opportunities across the pipeline.
Ideally, you will have experience working for a Developer; that said, we know there are some brilliant people out there within DNOs, ICPs and NGs as well. We’d love to hear from you!
Position: In this role, the successful candidate will identify and secure new grid connections and apply their technical and commercial expertise to the management of existing projects.
Job Responsibilities:
- Identify new grid connection opportunities, working in collaboration with the land and planning teams.
- Apply technical and commercial expertise to the management of the connections pipeline.
- Coordinate with and build relationships directly with National Grid, DNOs and IDNOs.
- Provide project management support during the construction phase of projects.
- Manage and be responsible for the delivery of work undertaken by external contractors and consultants.
- Apply for new grid connections and assess the viability of offers received.
Experience:
- Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering or other relevant qualification.
- Demonstrable history in planning new connections, preparing and submitting grid applications, reviewing offers for solar and/or storage.
- Extensive knowledge of UK distribution (and preferably transmission) networks, the grid connection processes, relevant codes/legislation and roles of the various key parties involved.
- Knowledge of the electrical design of solar PV and battery storage plants.
- Ability to identify and manage technical and commercial risk in new grid connections.
- Experience in a system planning, connection design or similar role would be advantageous.
