We have an opportunity for a Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Oncology department.
This is a bank role working on an "as and when required" basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.
Duties of this role include
- Undertake comprehensive patient assessments using advanced history-taking, physical examination, and diagnostic skills.
- Interpret clinical findings and diagnostic tests to make timely, evidence-based decisions and diagnoses.
- Independently initiate, review, and manage treatment plans, including prescribing medications as a qualified non-medical prescriber.
- Manage complex caseloads and long-term conditions, ensuring safe continuity of care across settings.
- Provide expert care across the patient journey, from initial consultation to discharge or referral.
- Identify deteriorating patients or red flags and act appropriately to initiate urgent interventions or referrals.
- Support admission avoidance, early intervention, and enhanced discharge planning through proactive patient management.
Applicants should meet the following criteria
- Registered Nurse (Adult) with valid NMC registration.
- Master's degree (or equivalent) in Advanced Clinical Practice.
- Independent Prescriber (V300) qualification.
- Demonstrable experience in an advanced clinical role managing complex and acutely unwell patients.
- Competence in clinical examination, diagnostics, and decision-making.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience in a specialist area (e. g., emergency care, cardiology, orthopaedics, primary care).
- Teaching or mentorship qualification (e. g., PGCert in Education).
- Evidence of involvement in research, audit, or clinical governance projects.
- Familiarity with private healthcare systems or NHS frameworks.
