Our client, a leading global investment bank with a market-leading Financial Institutions Group, is seeking a Senior Associate to join their Insurance coverage team in London. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a top-tier franchise advising on the most complex and high-profile transactions across the European insurance landscape. The team is consistently ranked amongst the top advisers globally, with a particularly strong reputation in the insurance sector. The team covers the full spectrum of insurance clients, including life, non-life, reinsurance, broking, MGAs and InsurTech, advising on M&A, capital raising, IPOs, capital management and strategic advisory mandates. The London office serves as the EMEA hub and works closely with colleagues across New York, Hong Kong and Continental Europe.
The role: As Senior Associate, you will play a pivotal role in originating and executing live transactions, taking ownership of significant workstreams and acting as a key point of contact for clients. Specific responsibilities include:
- Leading the day-to-day execution of M&A and capital markets transactions, including managing analysts and junior associates
- Building and reviewing complex financial models, including embedded value, Solvency II capital and IFRS 17 considerations specific to insurers
- Drafting client materials including pitchbooks, information memoranda, board presentations and management presentations
- Conducting in-depth strategic, financial and valuation analysis on insurance businesses
- Supporting senior bankers in client origination, including preparing marketing materials and contributing to live pitches
- Mentoring and developing junior members of the team
Candidate requirements: Our client is looking for an ambitious, intellectually curious individual with a strong execution track record. The ideal candidate will have:
- Approximately 5 years of investment banking experience, with a minimum of 3 years in an insurance-focused coverage or M&A team
- A strong execution record on live insurance M&A transactions
- Deep understanding of insurance sector dynamics, regulatory frameworks (Solvency II, IFRS 17) and valuation methodologies specific to insurers
- Excellent financial modelling and analytical skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with senior clients
- Strong leadership qualities and a proven ability to manage and develop junior team members
