Senior IT Infrastructure Manager with strong operational IT experience in several areas including IT infrastructure and cloud-based applications in AWS is required by a leading company in central Manchester. This is very much an IT operational-type role day to day and hands-on, rather than strategic, so from a technology standpoint you must have good AWS knowledge as well as standard IT infrastructure experience in Cisco and the Microsoft stack.
They want somebody who is technically sound (for example in AWS), and can challenge what good looks like, so improve their IT infrastructure. AWS is their cloud technology (mix of Linux and Windows), so you must be able to speak to Cloud Engineers and DevOps Engineers on a technical level, as well as leading the IT infrastructure team around AWS. They want a hands-on type of candidate, not afraid to get stuck into projects when required. It can be a flexible IT operations environment, so able to adapt to change when needed.
The career path for this role is to become the Global Head of IT, so be part of something special in their brand-new Manchester office and UK headquarters. They have an IT strategy signed off and in action, so it’s supporting this alongside the CTO, working on a global scale to implement this vision.
Experience Required:
- Experience in a similar senior IT role i.e. Head of IT / Head of IT Ops / IT Operations Manager / Senior IT Infrastructure Manager
- Hands-on operational senior IT experience in AWS, Cisco and Microsoft infrastructure
- Ability to manage cross-functional IT teams and develop those teams
- Excellent understanding of IT infrastructure and IT operations management
- If you have any experience managing global teams, this would be a bonus
- Have the ability to implement and lead large-scale IT projects
- A good IT security background would be a bonus
- Worked in a cloud environment (AWS)
The successful candidate will deliver and manage the day-to-day IT operations, maintaining high standards of IT service delivery, and safeguarding their IT infrastructure. You will also drive innovation in a cloud-based infrastructure (AWS) as well as working on a global scale. Brand new projects, driving change and being the face of IT in the UK and across the world for this truly worldwide client. The team that you will oversee is 5+, building an IT team in the UK and abroad in the future.
The role:
- Execute and oversee the IT Operations in alignment with the company goals, ensuring effective and timely delivery of IT projects in an AWS cloud environment
- Manage and mentor the team of IT professionals, in IT infrastructure, Networking, IT Security and Applications - supporting the overall defined IT strategy
- Oversee and ensure IT operates efficiently, providing outstanding support to all staff members across multiple offices globally
- Oversee the delivery of IT services within AWS, Microsoft and Cisco environments, ensuring they meet business needs and comply with established SLAs
- Lead IT infrastructure, including IT security initiatives to ensure robust and reliable systems across the business
- Collaborate with senior management, including people at the Director level and other stakeholders to understand and address urgent IT needs, to develop a robust IT strategy moving forward
The role is to be the face of IT in the UK. With an office based in central Manchester, with the expectation to be in the office the majority of the time. My client is looking to pay a starting salary between £65,000 - £75,000 + Excellent Benefits.
