Role: Senior Java Developer

Salary/Rate: £550-650 per day inside IR35

Location: Hybrid, 3 days per week - multiple locations available

Contract Duration: 12 months

We are currently looking for a Senior Java Developer for our government client. This Senior Java Developer role is hybrid, based between 3 days per week on site and the remainder of the week working from home. Office locations include Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham or Newcastle, as preferred. There is no further flexibility with expected time on site, or the office locations.

The contract for this Senior Java Developer position is for 12 months, with potential to extend, operating inside IR35.

Security Clearance: eligible for Security Check (SC Clearance)

  • Recent experience with Java 21 (or later).
  • Experience of working in an Agile environment.
  • Be willing to work in a pair programming environment.
  • Have the skills to build up a useful, robust automated test suite to support a continuous deployment.
  • Be involved in the wider web development community, identifying good practices we can adopt and sharing our experiences.
  • Have working knowledge of Unix-like operating systems such as Linux and/or Mac OS X.
  • Can quickly research and learn new programming tools and techniques.
  • Understand the use of Responsive Web Design.
  • Flexible/adaptable. Can produce significant output with minimal wasted effort.
  • Is committed to quality and is therefore willing to challenge colleagues and to constantly question their own approach.
  • Work within an Agile, multidisciplinary team (Developers, Designers, Analysts) on a major programme.
  • Design, build, and enhance new and existing digital products, platforms, and services.
  • Contribute to improving government transactions and user experiences.
