Head of IT – AWS – New Role

Head of IT with strong operational IT experience in several areas including IT infrastructure & cloud-based applications in AWS is required by a leading company in central Manchester. This role is looking for somebody with experience of leading the IT transformation and delivering the shared services model as required across the organisation. (Hybrid of IT operations and strategic)

Experience Required:

• Experience in a similar senior IT role i.e. Head of IT / Head of IT Ops / IT Operations Manager / Senior IT Infrastructure Manager
• Must have worked in an AWS cloud environment
• IT transformation and shared services experience i.e. modernisation, centralised IT function etc.
• Hands-operational senior IT experience in AWS, IT Infrastructure and IT security
• Ability to manage cross-functional IT teams and develop those teams
• Excellent understanding of IT infrastructure and IT operations management.
• If you have any experience managing global teams, this would be a bonus
• Have the ability to implement and lead large-scale IT transformation projects.

The career path for this role is to become the Global Head of IT, so be part of something special in their brand-new Manchester office and UK headquarters. They have an IT strategy signed off and in action so it's supporting this alongside the CTO, working on a global scale to implement this vision.

• Leading IT transformation and delivering the shared services model required across the organisation, both in the UK and globally
• They want somebody who is technically sound (for example in AWS), and can challenge what is good looks like, so improve their IT infrastructure
• Ability to modernise their IT infrastructure, introduce new technologies while centralising common business functions
• AWS is their cloud technology (mix of Linux and Windows), so you must be able to speak to Cloud Engineers, DevOps Engineer on a technical level, as well as leading the IT infrastructure team around AWS
• A hands-on type of candidate, no afraid to get stuck into projects when required
• It can be a flexible IT operations environment, so able to adapt to change when needed

The successful candidate will deliver and manage the day-to-day IT operations, maintaining & improving high standards of IT service delivery, safeguarding their IT infrastructure. You will also drive innovation in a cloud-based infrastructure (AWS) as well as working on a global scale. Brand new projects, driving change and being the face of IT in the UK and across the world for this truly worldwide client. In short you will take responsibility for transforming the organisation's global IT landscape, including AWS infrastructure, while also implementing a centralised and efficient model for delivering IT services across the business.

The team that you will oversee is 5+, building an IT team in the UK and abroad in the future.

The role

• Execute and oversee the IT Operations in alignment with the company goals, ensuring effective and timely delivery of IT projects in an AWS cloud environment
• Manage and mentor the team of IT professionals, in IT infrastructure, Networking, IT Security and Applications – supporting the overall defined IT strategy.
• Oversee and ensure IT operates efficiently, providing outstanding support to all staff members across multiple offices globally
• Oversee the delivery of IT services within AWS, Microsoft & Cisco environments, ensuring they meet business needs and comply with established SLAs.
• Lead IT infrastructure, including IT security initiatives to ensure robust and reliable systems across the business.
• Collaborate with senior management, including people at the Director level and other stakeholders to understand and address urgent IT needs, to develop a robust IT strategy moving forward.

The role is to the be face of IT in the UK. With an office based in central Manchester, with the expectation to be in the office the majority of the time. My client is looking to pay a starting salary between £65,000 – £75,000 + Excellent Benefits.
