We have an opportunity for a Senior Healthcare Assistant to join their team of staff in the nursing department. Chestnut Ward at Sarum Road Hospital is a welcoming surgical unit providing a range of elective inpatient and day-case services, including orthopaedics, urology, gynaecology, ophthalmology, general surgery, maxillofacial, and other procedures. We are seeking fully flexible Senior HCA Bank Staff to join our wider team and support us in maintaining the highest standards of patient care. Working on an 'as and when required' basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience within the independent healthcare sector and explore career pathways you may not have previously considered. Responsibilities
- Deliver person-centred care including assisting with personal hygiene, nutrition, mobility, toileting, and emotional support.
- Carry out basic clinical tasks such as monitoring vital signs, blood glucose levels, and patient observations (following training and competency).
- Assist with clinical procedures and the preparation of equipment and materials.
- Report any changes in a patient's condition to the nursing team promptly.
- Act as a role model and mentor to junior healthcare assistants, supporting their development and integration into the team.
- Help coordinate the daily allocation of tasks, ensuring care is prioritised appropriately.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification/experience).
- Experience working as a Healthcare Assistant in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Ability to carry out delegated clinical tasks safely and confidently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to support and supervise junior staff members.
