The predicted salary is between 29970 - 36483 £ per year.
Applicants must be able to travel to the sister site – The Shelburne Hospital in High Wycombe – for dual-site working. We have an opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join their team of staff in the Theatres department. This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity.
- Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
- Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring and safe environment.
- Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
- Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention, and mobility aids.
- Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds, and equipment in readiness for patient use.
- Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary).
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
- Ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
- Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures.
