We have an opportunity for a Head of Information Governance to join our team of staff.
This is a Full time role for 37.5 hours a week.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Significant (5+ years) experience of working in a senior management position in Quality/Governance areas, including working and engaging with Executive and Senior Management teams
- Good (3+ years) professional experience and practical knowledge of data protection law and standards within large (~£500M+ annual revenue, 10,000+ end-users, 40+ different locations) organisations
- Good (3+ years) experience and understanding of relevant information governance assessment frameworks, particularly the NHS DSP Toolkit or ISO 27001
- Excellent MS Office skills
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
- Information governance or information security industry qualifications
Duties of this role include:
- Maintain and evolve our information governance framework (including policies, standards, guidance and tools) based on regulatory and legal developments
- Fulfil the formal role of “Data Protection Officer” or “Deputy Data Protection Officer” for the organisation. Be a point of contact for supervisory authorities and for individuals whose personal data is processed
- Handle internal and external queries as necessary in relation to data protection investigations and practices within the required timescales
- Supervise (and where necessary undertake) investigations into personal data breaches, including reporting breaches to the supervisory authorities and to appropriate members of the Executive and/or Senior Management teams
- Provide expert advice, training, and communication to inform and advise our people about their obligations to comply with Data Protection law and standards
- Manage internal data protection activities including coordination of data protection privacy impact assessments and records of processing activities
