A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen where we are looking to recruit an ACC Clinical Coder with enthusiasm and motivation to join our friendly and dedicated Team based in Cheadle, Manchester. We offer a hybrid working pattern of 08:00AM - 16:00PM Monday - Friday.

We are looking for candidates who hold the National Clinical Coding Qualification (ACC) and who have experience coding across a wide range of specialities. You should have a sound knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, be able to demonstrate competency in the use of ICD10 and OPCS4 classifications, be proficient in the use of digital systems and have a thorough understanding of national clinical coding standards and conventions.

The successful candidate will contribute to the provision of a high quality clinical coding team supporting the business by ensuring accurate and timely translation and input of medical terminology. Senior Coders will support validation and data quality improvement work, act as a mentor and support trainee clinical coders and deal with complex coding queries when required. The coding team are committed and enthusiastic, they code from scanned information and are part of a centralised team who monitor their own sites/worklists daily.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years clinical coding experience at NHS Foundation level, ideally ACC but this is not a necessity
  • Full understanding of ICD10, OPCS and the impact of HRGs
  • Detailed knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy and coding procedures
  • NCCQ required but not a necessity if at least 3 years experience coding a range of specialities in the NHS

Duties of this role include:

The ideal candidates will possess excellent analytical and judgement skills, be methodical with a high degree of accuracy and excellent attention to detail; you will need to be a team player who can manage your own workload whilst at the same time contribute to meeting deadlines. You will have strong interpersonal and organisational skills and will be expected to develop effective working relationships with our colleagues at sites. If you are non ACC but have significant experience of cross-specialty coding and are working towards obtaining your NCCQ you will also be considered for this position.
