Thornbury Hospital in Sheffield is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country. Circle Health Group has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Children’s Nurse to join our friendly and motivated team of staff working on the hospital wards. This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis; you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.

Bank shifts salary: up to £20.00 per hour (depending on level of experience, training and qualification).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver age‑appropriate, evidence‑based nursing care for children across a range of clinical settings.
  • Monitor and respond to changes in condition, escalating concerns, and carry out clinical observations, treatments and interventions safely.
  • Collaborate with medical teams, allied health professionals and safeguarding leads to ensure coordinated care.
  • Contribute to handovers, case reviews and MDT meetings to ensure continuity and safety.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (Children/Paediatrics) with valid NMC registration.
  • Experience delivering nursing care to children and young people in hospital or community settings.
  • Strong communication and family liaison skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, emotionally sensitive environment.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, child development and family dynamics.
  • Adherence to infection prevention, medicines management, health and safety and consent protocols.
  • EPALS qualification desirable.
