Ross Hall Hospital in Glasgow is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country. We have an opportunity for a Perfusionist to join their team of staff in the Theatre department. This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.
Duties of this role
- Deliver cardiopulmonary bypass support for patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain the heart-lung machine and associated equipment during surgery.
- Work closely with surgeons and anaesthetists to ensure safe, effective perfusion support tailored to patient needs.
- Collaborate with cardiac surgery, anaesthesia, theatre nursing, and ICU colleagues to ensure safe patient pathways.
- Maintain accurate clinical records of perfusion activity in line with SCPS guidelines and Circle Health Group policies.
- Provide training, supervision, and mentorship to trainee perfusionists and other staff.
Applicants should meet the following criteria
- MSc in Clinical Perfusion Science or equivalent qualification recognised by the Society of Clinical Perfusion Scientists (SCPS).
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Clinical Perfusion Scientist.
- Demonstrable experience working as a perfusionist in cardiac theatres.
- Comprehensive knowledge of perfusion equipment, extracorporeal circulation techniques, and relevant legislation.
- Evidence of CPD and commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and clinical decision‑making skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high‑pressure, life‑critical situations.
