The Droitwich Spa Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, is seeking a Lead Theatre Practitioner for a full‑time role (37.5 hours per week). This position is within the Theatre department and involves flexible shift patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of high‑quality, patient‑centred care across the perioperative pathway, acting as a specialist or functional lead within the team.
  • Ensure that all patient safety checks, including WHO surgical safety processes, are carried out in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Provide day‑to‑day leadership and supervision for theatre practitioners and support staff, fostering a culture of professionalism, compassion and accountability.
  • Act as an advocate for patients, ensuring their rights, safety and dignity are upheld at all times.
  • Apply all relevant legislation, policies and procedures to theatre operations, ensuring adherence to professional and regulatory standards.
  • Work collaboratively with anaesthetists, surgeons, recovery staff and wider hospital teams to ensure effective patient flow and continuity of care.

Qualifications

  • NMC or HCPC registered practitioner with significant experience in a theatre environment (scrub, recovery or anaesthetics).
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership experience and ability to act as a role model to peers.
  • Strong understanding of patient safety protocols, safeguarding, infection control and clinical governance.
  • Scrub Practitioner or Surgical First Assistant qualification (for scrub leads).
  • ENB 998 and/or mentorship course.
  • Approved / recognised anaesthetic course.
  • ILS.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and mentoring skills.
  • Commitment to personal development and supporting the development of others.
  • Experience in major orthopaedics is desired.
