Lead Developer (Node.js, TypeScript, AWS)

My client is a well-established retail company and at the forefront of innovation in e-commerce solutions. They are looking to build on their development team as they continue to expand. We\’re seeking a talented Lead Developer to join their team and drive forward the backend development efforts.
Location
Primarily remote with occasional on-site meetings. Ideally one day per month required in the office near Bradford.
Role Overview
As a Lead Developer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture, development, and maintenance of their backend systems. As well as this you shall be involved in large integration and migration projects on AWS. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS, with a passion for leading a team of 4 developers towards excellence. This role will involve approximately 70% hands‑on development and coding, with the remainder dedicated to team management, code reviews, and serving as the primary technical point of contact within the backend team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable backend solutions using Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS services.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define technical requirements and drive project timelines.
- Mentor and coach developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
- Conduct regular code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and performance optimization.
- Act as a technical liaison between backend development and other departments, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Stay up‑to‑date with the latest technologies and industry trends, advocating for the adoption of new tools and methodologies where applicable.
Advantageous skills
Experience with BigCommerce and Bloomreach platforms, familiarity with fulfilment and warehouse operations.
