We Are Hiring! Team is looking for an experienced Yard Operative to join our Team in East Kilbride.
Main Purpose: Reporting to the Operation Manager, the TM yard operative will be responsible for running the day to day operations within a fast‑paced yard environment, with potential scope for install, maintenance and removal of all site‑based traffic management activities. Working with Freeflow Traffic Management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Competent/adequately qualified for the installation, maintenance & removal of all complex traffic management schemes in both the rural/urban roads network.
- Maintaining stock levels.
- Looking after our sign making facilities including computer interface.
- Preparation of daily jobs heading to site in loading list order.
- Ensuring yard is kept neat and tidy.
- Identify and isolate any damaged plant/equipment, escalating to line manager.
- Liaising with plant providers to ensure regular upkeep of our plant/materials.
- Ensure batteries are maintained and battery station is fully always utilised to ensure fluid stock levels of batteries for our equipment.
Skills and Competencies Required:
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to multitask while adapting to ever changing priorities.
- Prior experience in a traffic management environment preferred.
- Flexibility for weekend working.
- Excellent timekeeper.
- Ability to excel in a fast paced, demanding environment.
- Ability to use own initiative.
Preferred:
- Open availability.
- Good knowledge of online based systems.
- Prior traffic management experience.
Health & Safety Compliance: Monitor site practices and routines to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations, including the company H & S Policy, to minimise the likelihood of accidents and the resulting fines and compensation claims. Ensure training needs are identified and, in conjunction with HSEQ Department, arrange for personnel to attend such courses as are necessary. Failure to embrace a safe and secure environment can result in disciplinary proceedings.
