Circet Ireland and UK's Power Division are currently recruiting a Prep Team Operative to join our Team in Northern Ireland. The Outage Preparation Team Operative plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of HV overhead line rebuild and refurbishment shutdowns. The role focuses on the preparation, rigging, and management of poles, plant, and materials in advance of planned outages, enabling site teams to carry out works with minimal disruption and maximum safety.
What You'll Be Doing
- Rig, dress, and prepare all poles, crossarms, fittings, and associated equipment required for HV overhead line rebuild and refurbishment shutdowns.
- Prepare, load, and check conductor stringing equipment in advance of planned shutdowns, ensuring all plant and tools are fit for purpose and compliant with safety standards.
- Coordinate the pre-outage preparation of materials to ensure correct quantities, specifications, and configurations are available for site delivery teams.
- Manage site material stock levels, including accurate tracking, reconciliation, and reporting of materials used, returned, or held on site.
- Maintain clear and timely communication with main stores regarding stock requirements, shortages, and returns.
- Ensure all preparation activities are carried out in accordance with company procedures, industry standards, and health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Support outage delivery teams by responding to changes in work scope or programme requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in yards, depots, and preparation areas.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Work in full compliance with electricity safety rules, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Identify and report hazards, defects, or non-conformances relating to materials, plant, or equipment.
- Actively promote a strong safety culture within the outage preparation team.
Experience and Skills Required
- Experience working within the overhead electricity or utilities sector.
- Knowledge of HV overhead line materials, poles, fittings, and conductor stringing equipment.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work as part of a team and meet outage-driven deadlines.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Previous experience in outage preparation or shutdown support roles.
- Familiarity with stock control systems or material management processes.
- Relevant safety certifications (e.g. manual handling, plant operation, utility-specific training).
