Working with Circet Ireland & UK, we are leading providers to the Telecommunications, Transport Infrastructure and Power Sectors in Ireland and the UK. The role of Fibre Engineer, reporting to the Fibre Supervisor, is responsible for installation and servicing FTTP and client CPE across multiple clients. You are responsible for installing overhead and underground fibre, using both OR PIA and client specific network. Activities will include using ABF equipment, plant equipment, backfill and reinstatement within customer boundaries, ensuring all H&S standards are being adhered to and the quality standards being met as per the client specification.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Use and basic maintenance of a works tablet, fibre splicing machine, Power Meter, Fibre Identifier and Micro Scope. Splicing within loss limits.
  • Installation of fibre passive as per the client specification ensuring quality is being adhered to.
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
  • Follow the company Incident Reporting procedure, reporting any incidents and accidents immediately.
  • Proactively address customer enquiries, resolve issues and obtain customer feedback.
  • Maintain positive and healthy relationship with various teams to ensure customer service effectiveness.
  • Participate in training & upskilling of Fibre Engineers and be a role model for junior staff setting an example.
  • Ensure that the project is fully compliant with the local authority and statutory provisions for the administration of street works legislations.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
  • Demonstrable experience with a proven track record working in a networking engineering environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of FTTP and FTTH technologies.
  • Working with optical transmission equipment.
  • Sound ability to diagnose problems with existing equipment and fix faults up to resolution.
  • Ability to communicate fluently with the customers and should possess good customer service skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical issues through the non-technical description provided by their customers.
  • Accreditations: SA001, SA002, S8, S7, IPAF 1b, NRSWA unit 2.
  • Experience blowing fibre, splicing, backfill and reinstatement.
  • Experience working on the Openreach network using PIA.
  • IOSHH / NEBOSH qualified (desirable).
  • Sound knowledge of all HSEQ regulations.
  • Knowledge of contract documentation and specifications.
