Circet Ireland and UK's Power Division are recruiting an experienced Senior Authorised Person for our Power Division in Northern Ireland. The Senior Authorised Person (SAP) is responsible for the safe planning, authorisation, and execution of switching and outage activities on the DNO's electricity distribution network up to and including 33kV. The role ensures all planned outages are correctly programmed, safely implemented, and accurately recorded, while providing technical leadership, mentoring, and support to project teams and junior switching personnel.
Responsibilities
- Programme, prepare, and manage all planned outages using the client's E600 system, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submission.
- Carry out HV and LV switching operations on the client's electricity distribution network up to and including 33kV in accordance with the Electricity Safety Rules.
- Complete and submit construction clearance records accurately and within required timescales.
- Update all network assets, records, and assists following completion of works to ensure network data integrity.
- Connect and disconnect mobile generation, ensuring safe operation and compliance with network and safety requirements.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the project planning and management teams on outage strategy, switching arrangements, and network constraints.
- Assist in the training, mentoring, and development of junior Authorised Persons and switching team members.
- Liaise with control rooms, project teams, and site personnel to coordinate safe access, work progression, and restoration of supply.
Systems & Technical Knowledge
- Confident and competent user of client network systems, including: E600 – outage planning and authorisation, NMS – Network Management System, CNS – Customer Notification Systems.
- Ensure all system updates are completed accurately and reflect the as-built network configuration.
- Current Senior Authorised Person (SAP) authorisation on a DNO network up to and including 33kV.
- Proven experience carrying out HV/LV switching and outage management on overhead line construction projects.
- In-depth knowledge of DNO systems including E600, NMS, and CNS.
- Strong understanding of Electricity Safety Rules and operational procedures.
- Ability to support and advise project teams on technical and operational matters.
- Experience working on major overhead line construction or refurbishment projects.
- Experience with mobile generation connections and disconnections.
- Coaching or mentoring experience within operational teams.
