Circet UK is seeking an experienced Head of Design to oversee and manage all building safety and rooftop telecoms design activities across our Wireless Business Units. Reporting into senior leadership, this role is responsible for leading the entire building regulations application process—from the coordination of surveys and document production, through to engagement with clients, duty holders, Building Control, Registered Building Inspectors, and the Building Safety Regulator for high‑risk buildings. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance, safety, and design quality across all rooftop telecommunications projects, shaping the standards and processes that underpin our work across the UK.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the creation and publication of a Building Safety Procedure for all Circet Wireless Business Units.
- Coordinate building safety and CDM responsibilities alongside the HSEQT team and duty holders.
- Develop associated documents, processes, and forms required to support compliance.
- Act as the building safety design authority and subject‑matter expert for internal consultation.
- Participate in competency assessments to ensure employees and suppliers meet required technical and legislative standards.
- Promote and model high standards of behavioural and professional competence.
- Support design managers to identify, assess, and manage building regulations risks throughout the design lifecycle.
- Review and quality‑control design documents ahead of submission to clients, accountable persons, and regulatory bodies.
- Serve as the Individual Principal Designer under the Building Safety Act and CDM Regulations where appointed.
- Engage directly with clients, accountable persons, consultants, stakeholders, and contractors to drive compliance and design excellence.
- Collaborate with site designers to assemble and submit Building Regulations documentation and drawings.
- Manage submissions to Building Control, Registered Building Inspectors, or the Building Safety Regulator, ensuring full compliance for Gateway 2 and 3 approvals.
- Support designers in securing consents from building owners and their appointed surveyors.
- Lead and manage additional building safety team members as the department grows.
Experience
- Extensive background in telecommunications cell site design and construction.
- Strong expertise in Building Safety and regulatory compliance for high‑risk buildings.
- Experience fulfilling Building Safety Act and CDM responsibilities.
- Prior experience in dependency management and stakeholder engagement.
