Reporting into the Head of Category Merchandising, you'll be responsible for Stock and Intake Strategy, Planning and Management of Stock Profile in support of business KPIs through effective trading and driving the department in conjunction with buying.

Responsibilities

  • Build department strategy and long‑term plans alongside the buyer to support divisional KPIs.
  • Lead the department, together with the buyer, to fulfil the department and business strategy.
  • Adopt a flexible management style to support the development of the immediate team and wider merchandising function.
  • Support the division through involvement with project work, including cross‑functional involvement.
  • Prepare reporting for weekly and monthly review meetings.
  • Review daily and weekly sales performance and recommend replenishment actions where required.
  • Take a strategic approach in driving the department forward by gaining a strong understanding of key competitors.
  • Manage numerous high‑profile brand accounts, keeping strong supplier relationships and communication.
  • Manage order placement and intake to ensure on‑time product launches and product lead times are adhered to.
  • Take ownership of Category WSSI management, ensuring stock levels are optimised through accurate sales and intake forecasts and future demand.
  • Ensure effective stock management while highly focused on hitting departmental warehouse availability targets, managing fast and slow‑moving stock and making recommendations to move it through the business profitably.
  • Accurately forecast new product launches to achieve optimum profit balanced with sell‑through while maintaining high product availability.
  • Build a strong network cross‑functionally within the business and in particular buying & trading.
  • Manage the team and support the heads of merchandising.

  • Very organised and self‑motivated, working well on own initiative.
  • Experience working as part of a team.
  • Critical thinker with strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Highly numerate with strong analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with all levels of internal and external seniority.
  • Highly flexible to adapt to needs of a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Strong IT skills – Excel proficient.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role.
