To manage the day-to-day activities of the Logistics team and ensure an efficient flow of goods for materials received and shipped to/from the Boldon Site. To plan and organise the shipment of products for Interco and 3rd Party Customers in line with business and order requirements. To support other IDS sites with Logistics guidance and advice and to transfer best practice. Work in partnership with Sales Support Manager(s), Head of Production(s), Site Manager and Group Operations Director.
Principal Accountabilities
- Lead, plan and follow up the department activities
- Approval for department expenditure
- Continuous review of department processes and procedures to update for efficiency and economic purposes
- Apply Trade Compliance protocols and processes as directed and maintain procedures to keep up to date with new rules and requirements
- Ensuring the shipment of products, at Boldon site, is in accordance with the appropriate procedures, methods, International Standards and Regulations, schedules, by way of good planning and organisation of department workload.
- Generation of the following and any necessary department and site KPI reports:
- On Time Delivery (OTD) report on effective delivery performance and corrective actions
- Stock counting - maintain accurate stock reconciled to system data
- Shipping costs measured for accuracy against supplier in comparison to shipping revenue
- Output of data to relevant parties and company owners or other departments
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in shipping management
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field or a related/relevant qualification
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of freight modalities and management
- Ability to negotiate with vendors
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues
- Good understanding of financial reports
- Able to use disparate systems for data generation
- Understanding of Trade Compliance and legislation
- Proven ability in International Transport, Customs processes and Shipper contracts processes
- Solid understanding of Customs processes and Incoterms
- Worked in an environment utilising Trade Compliance protocols
