The successful candidate will meet the criteria outlined in the person specification, and:

  • be knowledgeable of the importance of the safeguarding of children within a school setting.
  • be able to demonstrate a strong awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements and site security procedures in a school.
  • have practical experience and be confident in carrying out a range of minor repairs, maintenance tasks, emergency cleaning, and basic DIY duties.
  • have a trade and/or maintenance background, ideally with painting and decorating and/or landscaping experience.
  • be able to undertake physical tasks including lifting, carrying, working at heights and using equipment safely to undertake the duties of the post.
  • be reliable, professional, proactive and want to make a positive difference.
  • be organised, flexible and have initiative, with effective interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) and IT skills.
  • be self-motivated with a willingness to adapt and learn new practices and procedures.
