This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced civil engineering professional with strong Permanent and Temporary Works expertise, capable of driving technical delivery on a large-scale new-build project.
You’ll take ownership of engineering assurance, construction methodologies, programme-critical activities and technical coordination across complex work packages — working closely with designers, subcontractors and project stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient and buildable solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead coordination of Permanent and Temporary Works activities, ensuring compliance with safety, design and project procedures.
- Review technical information, identify risks and develop practical engineering solutions.
- Liaise with designers, consultants, subcontractors and wider project stakeholders.
- Develop and implement construction methodologies aligned with programme and buildability requirements.
- Manage engineering inputs across allocated work areas and mentor junior engineers.
- Undertake Temporary Works Coordinator inspections where required.
- Support BIM Level 2 processes and digital information management.
- Promote strong health, safety and environmental performance across all activities.
- Assist with planning, cost forecasting and engineering documentation.
- Proven experience delivering major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Strong technical understanding of permanent and temporary works design and construction.
- Ability to make sound engineering decisions balancing safety, commercial and programme considerations.
- Experience managing engineering activities and supporting junior team members.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Knowledge of BIM Level 2 principles and digital engineering processes.
- Proactive mindset with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
- Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline (or equivalent Level 7 qualification).
- Membership of ICE or a related professional institution desirable.
