About the Role
CIPFA is recruiting for its Public Financial Management department and looking for an individual to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional who is passionate about supporting best practice in public finance. The postholder will be part of a team helping support CIPFA’s responsibilities in setting public sector standards, such as the Code of Practice on Local Authority Financial Reporting in the UK (“the Code”), the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards, and others. As a part of the Standards and Technical team they will help to convene meetings, organise stakeholders, develop accounting standards, and input on consultation responses. This role offers the chance to make a significant impact within the Public Financial Management department and contribute to the overall goals of CIPFA. You will also be able to take advantage of CIPFA’s four-day working week. This position would be contracted to CIPFA's London or Chester office, but could be largely completed by a remote/hybrid candidate.
We are seeking candidates who possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Essential Experience:
- Knowledge and experience, at a senior level, of financial reporting, preferably in the public sector
- Track record of the application of one or more public sector standards, such as the Code or PSIAS
- Experience with secretariat and/or standards-setting work is desirable
- Knowledge/Skills:
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of one or more technical frameworks across accounting, internal or external audit, or governance and risk
- Knowledge and understanding of the funding arrangements for public bodies
- Ability to research new developments and technical developments and prepare written considerations of key changes for a technical audience and practitioners
- Qualifications:
- Appropriate professional qualification
- Degree relevant to the field and/or equivalent experience working in the area
